Big-bore Motorcycles, one of the four sub-themes of the event, TAITRA claims that  visitors would be treated to one of the best spectacles in Asia of big-displacement motorbikes, including all those machines of Hollywood glamour and big-screen lore such as Harley Davidson classics and modern upgrades with sophisticated paint finishes, chromed pieces and accessories, rear tires as wide as 250mm that can easily minimize traction loss when the impulse is sparked to whip the accelerator, as well as many concept models

premiered at the Tokyo Motor Show and EICMA 2007 (the 65th International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan, Italy) in late 2007, where cutting-edge  advances showed new technologies, ergonomic designs, weight-saving vehicle frames etc.

BMW Motorrad of Germany, one of the key exhibitors of big-bore cruiser motorcycles and sophisticated off-roaders, will ask its Taiwan agent, Pan German Motors, to handle its exhibit. Models to be showcased include the F650 GS, HP2 Sport, K 1200 S, R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure, and R1200 RT, all currently regarded as top-of-the-line bikes sought-after by discriminating riders wishing shaft-drive technology, quietness and understated power.

The new BMW HP2 Sport, according to the local agent, puts the sportiest, most powerful, and lightest Boxer engine (with diagonally-opposed piston action as in a Porsche) of all time in a PTW. The new R 1200 GS Adventure is the third version of BMW’s ultimate quest to combine all the desirable characteristics of a motorbike that can easily handle a variety of terrains, including off-road, highway, etc. The fact is that most cross-country or even cross-continent riders want a bike that can aptly handle hours of minimal-fatigue highway cruising, but, if called upon occasionally, also be able to jump the dusty shoulders to ford across a stream or trek over an expanse of dunes. And BMW, according to the agent, has done just that: reworking to upgrade a basic model that is  already a capable blend of sporty handling and long-haul tourer, complete with a 100hp engine, 85 lb/ft of torque, and Telelever front suspension that minimizes the road-induced vibration that causes rider fatigue.

Without neglecting to cater to tastes that believe feminine beauty coupled with mechanical sophistication and horsepower is as harmonious as Mom’s apple pie with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, TAITRA is also staging the 3rd Motorcycle Beauty Queen Contest alongside the show. The show organizer still rightly believes that female pulchritude is still one of the greatest show promoters, as dozens of young and beautiful girls have registered to vie for the crown. Such amazing response is believed to fan the considerable heat to be generated at the fair, even without switching on the ignition.
